My Wu-Yi Tea
I think I was pretty lucky in finding the wu-yi tea that I ended up using for the past two months. As I tried to sort thru all the hype and BS for a week or two it finally dawned on me to call one of my friends who is Chinese and ask him if he could guide me on this. Although he couldn’t really help me out, his parents were able to.
Growing up Chinese American he isn’t really into the tea thing and instead drinks about as much soda as I used to except he never gained the weight that I did! There must be more than wu-yi tea because you rarely see overweight asians!
Anyway, he asked his parents for me because they in fact do drink tea and do so regularly. They also apparently are more traditional and are into the customs that go along with the whole drinking of tea “thing”. And on top of that they own and operate a Chinese restaurant in which they get their tea for the restaurant thru Generation Tea. They basically order thru this site in bulk of course, but I figured if they actually use this site for their restaurant and personally use it themselves, then I couldn’t go wrong!(I’m still bugging Zi to try and get his parents to get me tea at a discount that bum!)
The following is what I specifically used for my wu-yi tea power diet =p I’m also including what my friend decided to use so I’ll point out who used what and seperate them so you know. I’ll include a picture of the product then post my comments about it. I’ll also include a couple links for you so you can check it out if you want later, the links will open up in a new window for your viewing pleasure =p

Wu-Yi Tea Purchase Quick Links
Wu-yi Tea Information: Generation Tea
Tea used for Case Study: Royal Qilan Orchid Oolong
On-The-Go: Organic Oolong Tea Teabags
Ok, this wu-yi tea is what I currently drink most often. The taste was excellent. Now in all honesty I wasn’t much of a tea drinker and at first I wasn’t too big on drinking this stuff. I’m assuming that because of this particular tea in fact being so good, that I made a quick transformation into a now religious wu-yi tea drinker(remember, oolong tea, but wu-yi is more fun to say lol). I can honestly dub it excellent and because I’m a simple dude, you’re getting the common man’s review, not a bunch of mumbo jumbo with an english accent! Simply put, most excellent dude…! You’ll just have to try it out for yourself!
If you’ve checked out the site or when you have time, make sure you take a look. There are varying prices depending upon how much you feel you can afford. Remember, this was my personal choice. I chose it on recommendation from my friends parents out of a few suggestions as well as price. This particular tea was kind of middle of the road on price. It wasn’t Generation Tea’s highest price but it was a few dollars more than their cheaper stuff. I bought it by the pound and continue to buy it like that and I suggest you do the same. I started to buy it in lower quantities at a time but found it worked out a bit cheaper for me compared to how much I was drinking and how long the supply was lasting. You may choose to opt for one of the more cheaper teas or more expensive teas after reading some of the descriptions.

Another option for you to consider are the wulong teabags. This basically gives you a very quick no mess option to start drinking your wu-yi tea right away. I bought a 10 pack of these to use and brought some to work with me. I would use them at home as well from time to time when I was in a rush. The taste was still pretty good but was second best to the great taste of the loose leaf tea.
I imagine if you didn’t want to fool with the loose leaf teas then these teabags would be a very viable option. The only drawback there is it would probably add up to be slightly more expensive in the long run, I dunno. Overall, the wulong teabags do taste great no doubt and are real convenient when you’re short on time or at places like work when you may not have the ability to make the loose leaf tea.

This particular loose leaf tea is what my buddy chose to go with. It is a few dollars cheaper than what I went with. Naturally we swapped a few cups of each other’s teas. I did like this one but not as much as the Royal Qilan Orchid Oolong. This tea was a lighter and more sweeter tea than mine, I preferred the stronger taste of the Orchid Oolong personally which was worth the few extra dollars for me.
Now, take what I’m about to say for what it is. My buddy didn’t lose as much weight as I did. He did pretty good himself but only lost between 10 and 14 lbs. throughout the same time period. There are too many factors to consider for the difference in weight loss. Discipline, exercise, diet, etc… and I’m sure he cheated on his diet LoL! I personally think that you would do well with either of these teas and the bottom line probably boils down to taste, not that one has more “power” to cut weight than the other. The Tieguanyin-Gold is very good and is a slightly cheaper option if price is a concern.
